Françoise Masset

Having obtained Médailles d’or in singing and lyrical art at the Conservatoire National de Région in Douai and the premier prix in ancient music at the Conservatoire National de Région in Paris, Françoise Masset also studied musicology at the Sorbonne University. She then continued her vocal formation at the Studio-Opéra of the Centre de Musique Baroque in Versailles, singing with Michel Laplénie’s Sagittarius ensemble, Philippe Herreweghe’s La Chapelle Royale and Jean-Claude Malgoire’s La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy

On stage, in concert, and for recordings, she interprets a very diverse repertoire, from the baroque up to the contemporary.  Her musical companions, especially for the baroque, include Hugo Reyne (La Simphonie du Marais), Emmanuelle Haïm (Le Concert d’Astrée), Marc Minkowski (Les Musiciens du Louvre), and Jérôme Corréas (Les Paladins); for 19th and 20th century works, Jean-Pierre Arnaud (instrumental ensemble Carpe diem); for the musical theater, Mireille Larroche (Péniche Opéra); and for recitals, harpist Christine Icart, pianists Claude Lavoix, Françoise Tillard, François-René Duchâble, and Nicolas Stavy, pianofortist Laure Colladant, guitarist Alain Rizoul, and organists Pascal Marsault, Vincent Genvrin, Etienne Baillot, and Michel Alabau.

Over the past few years, François Masset has taken part in several creations: “Médée” and “Le Fusil de Chasse” by Michèle Reverdy at the Lyon opera house and the Péniche Opéra ; “Les Orages désirés” by Gérard Condé and Christian Wasselin at Radio France ; “Ubu” and “Cantates de bistrot” by Vincent Bouchot at the Opéra Comique and Péniche Opéra; and “Pas si bêtes” (a show for children assembling Prokofiev, Moussorgsky, and Chostakovitch) at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées.

She has conceived and interpreted several shows on the baroque repertoire: “Passions baroques” at the opera house in Lille, with scenographers Stuart Seide and Emmanuelle Haïm; “Orphée, double je”, “Ariane de l’un à l’Autre”, “Voyage autour de la chambre”, and “Le Chant des Constellations” (blending texts, music and images) with Marc Dumont and Stéphane Fuget’s L’Entretien des Muses.
